CROSS & PRESENTATION 1st CLASS IRON CROSS. This lot contains items of questionable authenticity that may be of post-WWII manufacture. We encourage interested parties to examine items in this lot closely and in person, if possible. Preview times are available upon request. 1) KNIGHT’S CROSS. An attractive example of a solid silver Knight’s Cross of the War Merit Cross with swords. The cross itself is marked on the edge at the base “1” and “900”. The neck ribbon is complete with a “hook & eye” closure at the ends. CONDITION: the medal shows light wear overall. The ribbon does have some minor areas of discoloration. (02-22513/BF). 2) IRON CROSS. A well-made example of a WWII Iron Cross 1st Class with a magnetic center. The reverse features a wide pin that is marked “CEJ” in a rectangle along with the number “900”. The back of the cross is engraved with the signature “H. Himmler. 10. 7. 42”. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: there is a paper that asserts that this Iron Cross was presented by Heinrich Himmler personally to an individual on 10/7/42. CONDITION: cross shows light overall wear with tarnish to the silver. (02-22514/BF). $500-800.
